Oxford University Press Bowls Club
Remember that we have a Short Mat fun night every Tuesday through the close season!!!!!
The Social Evening on the 6 October featuring Paul Dumas, ventriloquist, comic and singer was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Trophy Presentation night went very well. In addition the Club presented a cheque for £603 to Geoff Jordan and Nicola on behalf of Guide Dogs for the Blind. This money was raised by the members by good humoured fines and donations. We also had a lovely supper.
A member reported the following conversation with the wife of a new member.
She said how much she had enjoyed the evening, the formality of the President, Captain and Competition Secretary being dressed in Blazer and Tie to present the Trophies. The general laughter and banter amongst the members, the joy of people given an award they were not expecting, had all surprised her , plus a very enjoyable cooked meal and dessert for the princely sum of £2:50 had all impressed her. We are all so lucky to be part of this very happy Bowls Club.
This sums up how our members feel about our Club.
The AGM was on the 6 November. Ken Brown was elected as the new President. He would like to thank the Club for this honour, especially as he was unable to attend due to an engagement booked over a year ago.
